FAQ About Shower Door Seal
We strongly advise not using any lubricants, including shower gel, during installation. These substances may leave residues inside the seal’s U-channel, which can lead to mold growth, material degradation, or premature aging over time.
Please note that a tight fit is not a defect—on the contrary, it indicates that the seal is providing a secure grip on the glass, ensuring long-term performance and water resistance without slipping.
Please don’t.
Our bath seal strips are designed to grip the glass firmly and securely — that tight fit is exactly what keeps water in and the seal in place.
Heating the seal with a hair dryer may soften the material too much, reducing its natural gripping force.
This can lead to:
- A loose fit that slides off easily
- Tiny gaps between the seal and glass where mould and mildew can grow
- A much shorter lifespan, meaning you’ll be replacing it more often
In short: the firm fit is a feature, not a flaw — no need for heat.
Spraying boiling hot water directly on the seal—especially on the soft fins—can cause them to curl or lose shape.
It’s best to avoid blasting them with very hot water straight on.
